Two friends, one graveyard – and a thousand ways to do everything wrong
Austria in the late 1990s. In the provincial backwater of Friedberg, the home of winos and other dubious characters who haven't realised that the past is over, the incorrigible rascals Andi and Fipsi are wasting away their youth.
But their cushy daily routine helping out at an undertaker's comes to an abrupt end when an acquaintance is carried to his grave and the coffin suddenly weighs twice what it ought to. Andi smells a rat: does one of their colleagues want to get rid of something – or someone? Clues point to their hot-tempered gaffer Macho, the maverick Gustl, even to his best friend Fipsi. But worst of all they point to the Serbian mafia.
For all readers of Wolf Haas and Josef Hader.
