Simone Veenstra - Outspoken in the Summer Wind

A touchingly funny novel about a woman who sets out to learn to tell lies

"By the end of next week! No way will I have the rent by then." Judith simply cannot lie. Not even the tiniest white lie or false courtesy. This has cost her relationships, jobs – and now even her apartment. But Judith needs a roof over her head and so she travels to her uncle's on the island of Amrum. Here she wants to learn at last to lie. She is given support for this project by a stray dog called "Dog". And from people who are all a little bit screwy like her. Only different.

When she then discovers the diary of Teda, who was born on the island of Föhr in 1900, Judith is not only fascinated by her adventure-filled biography. Slowly but surely, it is in a very different light that she begins to view her plan to learn to tell lies so that other people will like her.
