“The victim is 27, female college student, with multiple puncture wounds.” This is the first information Konstantin Kirchenberg, chief of Homicide, receives when he is called to headquarters that night. Detective Zimmermann also informs him of a witness: a housemate of the murdered woman saw someone running from the house.
Together with his colleague Ulla, Kirchenberg inspects the scene of the crime. From the description of the suspect a man is soon taken into custody, but the witness is unable to pick him out in a line-up. And detective Kirchenberg himself has doubts about the suspect being the murderer.
While the chief of police at a press conference conveys the not quite accurate impression of being on top of the case, Kirchenberg continues his investigation. But his search for leads are about as successful as his pursuit of Ayse, the pretty waitress at the local Döner Kebab bistro.
By further questioning the housemate, the detectives find out that the victim had contact with party-scene Yuppies at the fitness studio where she regularly trained. A hot lead finally, so it seems. But then a resident of low-income housing tells the police that her son is somehow involved in the matter …
