Emil König - The Magpie and the Doobie

As entertaining as if Tommy Jaud was going for a walk with a street cat named Bob!

Thomas has been ditched by his girlfriend, and so he has to move into a new apartment with his dog, Pippa. There is a small park just round the corner. At first Thomas doesn't like the scruffy public garden one bit, but Pippa insists on going walkies every day. One day, while in the park, he happens to see a couple of magpies getting high on a discarded doobie, and he suddenly realises that it's party time among the local wildlife.

The more Thomas keeps an eye on the goings-on of rabbits, hedgehogs and foxes the more he discovers that is curious and mysterious – and before long he thinks very differently about himself and his daily activities. Can he save his partnership or might he even fall in love again?

An affectionate memoir about the wonderful world at our front doors.
