A special book concept to bridge the gap between books to be read to children and those for early readers to read alone. Reading with others is not only fun but also actively encourages children to read.

The fair has come to town at last! More than anything else, Leo would like to go there straight away after school and without bothering with lunch. And so at first, Max and Frederik, who are both two years older, are very welcome. This way, his mother can take her time with her shopping while he goes on ahead with the "big" boys. When they tell him to his face that they bet he wouldn't dare go on the ghost train alone, he decides to show them. But on the other hand, he has never been on the ghost train alone. When the train then suddenly stops in the middle of the dark, he feels sick with fear. He starts to panic and tries to walk to the exit. Suddenly, among all the ghostly whispering, he can hear voices, human voices, and sees a shadow disappearing into a dark corner. Leo makes sure he gets out into the open. For the time being, he is fed up with ghosts and prefers to spend the rest of the afternoon with his mother on the merry-go-round. When they get back home, however, they find out that there has been a burglary in the neighbourhood. Leo remembers the strange shadow in the ghost train and has an idea; not only does his ingenious plan help catch the thief, but Leo himself now has the reputation of being afraid of nothing and no one!
