Martin Becker, born in 1982, freelances as a writer in the field of public broadcasting and as a literary critic for Deutschlandfunk and Deutschlandradio Kultur. He also writes features and reports from Czech Republic, France, Canada, Brazil, and other countries. He published an award-winning volume of stories,

A Beautiful Life, and two novels: The Rest of the Night and March Music. He has also been involved in a number of audio plays and readings with the Czech writer Jaroslav Rudiš.
