Jürgen Moltmann

Jürgen Moltmann studied theology as a prisoner of war in England and then, after his return to Germany, in Göttingen. From 1953 until 1958 he was a clergyman and university chaplain in Bremen and then a professor at the ecclesiastical college in Wuppertal. After a period in Bonn, he went to Tübingen, where he taught as a professor until his retirement in 1994. Since then he has had several guest professorships and been on numerous lecture tours. Jürgen Moltmann has been awarded myriad prizes and 19 honorary doctorates.
