Heiko A. Oberman

Heiko A. Oberman (1930-2001) studied theology and history in Utrecht and Oxford and taught at the Divinity School at Harvard University. Between 1966 and 1984 he was professor of the history of Christianity at the Faculty of Protestant Theology at Tübingen University, where under his directorship the Institute for Late Medieval and Reformation Theology became the internationally most important research centre in this field. From 1984 until his death he taught at the University of Arizona, where he was the Regents' Professor of Medieval, Renaissance and Reformation History.
