Birgit Lutz, born in 1974, is a journalist and speaker, and the only German woman to have been to the North Pole fifteen times. Along with describing her adventures, she examines the Arctic from a scientific point of view, often while on expedition ships, where she gives lectures about adventures and the Arctic's sensitive eco-system. For her reports she was awarded the Dr. Georg Schreiber Media Prize, the Karl Buchrucker Prize and the Otto Greither Special Prize.
