A remote hotel in the mountains. Tracks in the snow at night. And a corpse after midnight.

An unusual assignment takes the young pianist Henni von Kerchenstein to the snow-covered Alps. The widow of a film star is celebrating her deceased husband's 100th birthday with some old friends, and Henni is to accompany the event on the piano.

Snowed in with some crotchety old folks, not only is her sensitivity to cold put to a tough test but also her talents as an amateur sleuth.
