Sophie Bonnet - Provençal Fire

An idyllic village in Provence. A wonderful summer festival. But one of the guests won't see the next morning.

Provence in June: In the idyll of Sainte-Valérie the beginning of summer is being celebrated with a big traditional festival. Everyone is sitting round the bonfire until late in the night, eating and dancing by the light of the flames – until in the middle of the performance of the celebrated rock band Viva Occitània a journalist is stabbed to death. Is it the research he has been doing in the area that has been his undoing?

Pierre Durand's investigations take him to incensed villagers, to the guardians of a dying language – and to the singer Aurelie Azéma, who is campaigning for the independence of Occitania. While Pierre is delving down into the old Provençal myths he is unaware that he has long been under observation. And that the death of the journalist was only the beginning.
