Robert Hültner - Inspector Kajetan Returns

It is Munich at the end of the late 1920s, and Kajetan is on the run because he had found out about the corrupt dealings of the Munich police. He is trying to escape over the mountains to Austria via the border town of Zellach. But then he gets lost in a snow storm, which he survives only to get caught up in the next predicament: he is arrested on suspicion of the murder of the Zellach pub owner Thannheiser. When the local police inspector discovers Kajetan's true identity, he promises not to turn him in to authorities in Munich – on condition that in return Kajetan helps him in the deadlocked investigations in the Thannheiser murder case …

The story told here by Robert Hültner is set between the political goings-on at the early stages of Hitlerism and the desolate, archaic world of a village community – and it is a story that is as fast-moving as it is profound, a story of political persecution, perfidious conspiracy and social upheaval.
