What a boy goes through in East Berlin

While trying to flee from East Germany, the parents of 8-year-old Paul are caught and sent to prison. Paul is put into an East German children's home. But his granny and uncle do all they can to get permission for him to go to live with them.

In 1988 Paul is now 11 and has been living with Granny and his Uncle Henri in a small apartment in East Berlin for two years. He misses his parents terribly and is longing for them to come out of prison. But then he learns that they have been ransomed and are beginning a new life in West Berlin. Paul is devastated for he knows that he is not allowed to leave East Germany and it will be decades before he sees his parents again.

•Authentic and unputdownable

•A true story about the reality of life in East Germany shortly before the fall of the Berlin Wall
