Gerhard Trabert - The Street Doc

The doctor of the poor tells his story

Gerhard Trabert is an internationally active emergency doctor and famous in Germany as the "doctor of the poor". He is a physician, social worker, professor, and author. When he happens not to be in a disaster zone somewhere in the world, he tends to his patients in Germany – for over 20 years he has been treating, free of charge, homeless and destitute Germans and migrants. He meets these people on equal terms and gives them back some of their dignity.

In his book he writes about his most moving experiences and shows us the value of stopping, having a closer look, and taking action. He sees his encounters as part of the quality of life that money can't buy. His book is a passionate plea for more humanity and speaks out against all forms of indifference.
