Konstantin Wecker - Then Think With Your Heart

"I have a dream: we open the borders and let everyone in."

As few other German artists, Konstantin Wecker has positioned himself in the refugee issue in favour of a welcoming culture. In return, he has had to face a lot of spite, has been called "naïve" and a "do-gooder". But for him the only thing that counts as far as individual fates are concerned is compassion and active help. Behind all the figures and statistics, Wecker sees only individual people.

The brilliant texts he has written for this controversial book also bear witness to a life-long resistance to right-wing radicalism and racism; they touch on such present-day topics as war politics and an unjust economic system.

Konstantin Wecker's texts show an alert mind prepared to be emotionally affected by all that is going on in the world – he writes argumentatively, imploringly, sometimes provocatively in the sense of a radical humanitarian utopianism: "Let us think with our hearts. Let us conquer hate with tenderness."
